The VAT Reverse Charge for Construction
If you are VAT-registered and work in construction, the Domestic Reverse Charge changes who accounts for VAT on most services between VAT-registered businesses - the customer accounts for it rather than the supplier. It needs your invoicing, VAT returns and software set up correctly. We make sure they are. The current rules are published at gov.uk.
CIS - Frequently Asked Questions
If you pay subcontractors for construction work, you must register as a contractor. If you do construction work for a contractor, you should register as a subcontractor - otherwise deductions are taken at a higher rate. We handle the registration either way.
Many subcontractors are. If too much has been deducted from your payments through the year, the difference is refunded to you, typically after your Self Assessment return is filed. We make sure every refund you are entitled to comes back to you.
Gross payment status means contractors pay you without making CIS deductions, which improves your cash flow significantly. There are conditions to meet around turnover, compliance and business structure. We will assess whether you qualify and apply on your behalf.
